Café touched $ 2 a pound, one of the highest price indices achieved in 2009. The product is sustained and that price not seen since May, when average was $ 2.07 per pound.
In general, higher prices of grain in the world market has been pressured, indirectly by Colombia, as exports in 2009 will be lower in three million bags, going from 11.5 million at 2008-8100000 bags of 60 kilos, well below the initial estimate of 12 million bags.
For their part, domestic producers have also had good news, because among the first of December and January 5th Tuesday the domestic price of buying a bag of coffee exported 125 kilos rate recorded in Armenia up to 70,000 pesos, moving of 620 500 to 690 500 pesos.
In the last month reached more than 700,000 paid pesos in several of the 15 departments coffee, according to the report FEDERACAFE.
Now, the expectation for the calendar year (January to December) and coffee (it closes at 30 September) are best, as it is expected that coffee production is restored with the entry of new areas renowned of which is estimated better production and productivity.
This, directly, will continue to be paid the best premium quality Colombian coffee and recover the world market of grain.
Another of the expectations of coffee, which is impossible to control, is the devaluation of the Colombian peso against the U.S. dollar. For example, in the last month has increased from 1998.45 pesos per dollar at 1992.50 but has come to ceilings of 2,054 pesos (December 21).
